Having been in business for 7 years this year (yes! We reached that amazing milestone in September 2019!), Jason has had an amazing time, working on a wide range of vehicles (Motor vehicles, boats or Caravans) during that time. Some of his favourite jobs are 4WD set-ups, not only because he gets to show camping travellers what amazing conveniences they can actually have whilst on the big, wide roads of this hot and arid country, but he also gets to indulge in conversations about some of the most amazing adventures!
Some other types of work that Jason has truly enjoyed has been working on old classic cars. Hobbyists will purchase an old classic to do up slowly – oh, so very slowly – and delicately (what intricate and precise work it can be)! Word is sure getting around in Brisbane that the man to make contact with regarding the set-up of electrics in old classics is Jason from EXACT Auto Electrics. Jason enjoys being a part of this journey with our classic car hobbyist clients, vicariously enjoying the beauty and luxury of it all! Here is an image of one of our clients’ classic cars (admittedly, it’s a baby classic car 😉 Jason has also worked on older models!)
Another favourite of Jason’s is to work on racing cars! Vrooom! Having dreamed as a teenager of working in the pits for the sheer exhiliration of it (but always being much too careful in life, this dear man, and ultimately choosing not to) Jason enjoys delving in the joys of what happens on the tracks from racing car owners!
Jason has also enjoyed working on boats, large and small, including luxury yachts! As a boy, Jason grew up fishing out on the Great Barrier Reef with his dad, so his love of boats and whatever else comes with them is palpable. Whilst you might see him, literally, bending over backwards to find the tiniest of wiring harnesses related to all kinds of shortcircuits, I have seen him dive into the deepest blue sea and the most colourful coral (when it was in its utmost glory) and splash back out of the water with big, giant blue startfish in one hand and a cheesey grin on his face.
All in all, over the past 7 years, Jason has had an amazing ride! He has met clients from all walks of life and I personally enjoy many of the stories he comes home with. Jason has met hobby Matchbox car collectors (amonst many collectors of many different objets d’art) and I couldn’t even begin to fathom the variety of people he has met along his way, including stars such as Mal Meninga (which was amazing!! – (especially as Jason was very fresh in business) and, most recently, Ash Barty’s grandfather, who so proudly told Jason all about his granddaughter and her then soon-upcoming competition in the Australian Open.
Aside from intriguing and interesting people, Jason has also had the humorous pleasure of bumping into clients who from one lively topic to another, turned out to be long-distance relatives! Over the past 7 years, this has happened about 3-4 times! It is absolutely unbelievable! (But when you know about Jason’s Chinese heritage having been established in Australia in the early 1900’s during which time the renowned herbalist, Kwong Sue Duk, brought over 4 wives, you will perfectly understand why he has great many a relative)!
What got Jason into auto electrics anyway? Well, as a young man, he knew that he loved electrical challenges and that he also loved cars. Marry the 2 together and voila! he gained himself an opportunity that fed his every problem-solving fancy! What he loves about auto electrics is that, precisely, it requires a lot of problem-solving and dare we say it, for a scientific-minded man…. creativity !!! It’s these things that keep Jason in his element.
