EXACT Auto Electrics was founded by husband and wife team, Jason and Alicia. Here Alicia shares her memories of starting out in business 7 years ago.
How time flies… But oh so much fun 🙂
I’ll never forget the utter excitement it was to start our business together.
In the early days, I had a huge involvement and would drop the girl off to Childcare 3 days per week. I would hit the gym and then promptly drive back home, key unlocking the front door, an immediate turn left into our front spare room, which was set up as our office and get to work!!
These were SUCH fresh and exciting days for us and nothing can compare to the newness of a brand new direction in life – especially when you have taken an idea by its horns, taken a very daring leap of faith and just made.it.happen.
With our home loan falling by the wayside by many months, we could have submitted to working for somebody else. But we were young and daring and against all odds, decided we would see how it would go.
While Jason was driving from place to place in his old Ford Falcon, knocking on many doors, introducing himself to the local workshops with but his uniform from his old workplace and a business card (so brave!), I was tirelessly looking into all the https://www.exactautoelectrics.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Australian-travelers-1.jpg set-up, learning about insurances and laws and brushing up on my (terrible) high school knowledge of basic accounting (I’m STILL our Accountants’ worst nightmare, sorry Denise) , and googling, and setting up templates for our correspondence, writing up a business plan yaddah yaddah – oh my gosh, totally going crazy, diving nose in. ***So.much.fun***
I would also call customers after they’d received a service to complete a survey of their experience with EXACT 😉 Not all of them realised I was “the wife” and when it did come up in conversation, we’d have a chuckle together and jokes from the client inevitably ensued.
Those times were SO exciting and EXACT continues to be our “baby”.
We still throw ideas around and wonder what we could possibly do in the future.
These days, Jason has a good grip on most of the business (https://www.exactautoelectrics.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Australian-travelers-1.jpg and operations), with a little support from me (and our amazing https://www.exactautoelectrics.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Australian-travelers-1.jpg assistant, Mel) and I am just SO proud of Jason.
Congratulations to my amazing husband whose tireless and unwavering commitment to his business is beyond me.
We STILL get amazing feedback about his workmanship and all-round genuine customer service and I am secretly his biggest fan ever.
Besides, he’s pretty cute 😉
